PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce paper floating of a printing sheet transported. ! SOLUTION: A printer 10 comprises: an ink jet head 42 discharging ink droplets onto a printing sheet P; a sheet transportation mechanism 30 being provided at an upstream side in a transportation direction of the printing sheet P with respect to the ink jet head 42 while transporting the printing sheet P along a transportation passage 32; and a suction mechanisms 50 sucking the printing sheet P toward a platen 45 side while including a platen 45 facing the ink jet head 42 via the transportation passage 32. In the suction mechanisms 50, a plurality of suction holes 53 is formed in a substantially matrix form on a suction surface 52 sucking the printing sheet P.
