PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a grooving method capable of flattening a metallic member and of obtaining favorable operationality of a multi-cutter, when cutting the metallic member to form a groove. ! SOLUTION: There is provided a grooving method including forming a plurality of grooves on a block 21 of a metallic material to be cut by moving a multi-cutter 10 which is formed by stacking a plurality of disk cutters 14, while rotating. The method includes: a preparation process of fixing the block 21 to a table K so that a surface 21c of the block 21 becomes a convex shape; and a cutting process of forming a plurality of fins on the upper side of the block 21 by the multi-cutter 10. In the cutting process, cutting is performed in such a state that a tensile stress acts on the surface 21c of the block 21 by a bending moment acting on the block 21. !
