<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To start the execution of an ultrasonic examination prior to the registration of the ultrasonic examination in an ultrasonic diagnostic apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: A retrieval key is input by reading a subject card or a bar code (S206). Then two processes (S208, S210) are carried out in parallel. S210 is a background task, that is, information acquisition from a server and registration processing are carried out in parallel with the ultrasonic examination. The result of the ultrasonic examination is associated with examination management information at required timing (S224).
