An apparatus operable to transmit and receive, in a TV White Space (TVWS), signals compatible with STANAG 4691. The apparatus may be a transceiver. The apparatus may connect to the internet and access a remote TVWS Database (figure 1), operable to serve the apparatus with transmission parameters. The apparatus may be able to establish a secondary, over the air, connection to the internet. The apparatus may comprise a TVWS manager 125 able to format messages for transmission according to the STANAG 4691 protocols. The apparatus may contain a Cognitive Frequency Hop Controller 130 operable to control transmit and/or receive parameters in accordance with predefined frequency hop settings and to operate within any parameters received from a TVWS database. A network comprising a plurality of the apparatus is also disclosed wherein one of the apparatus is designated as a master device and the remaining apparatus are designated as slave devices. A method of transmitting data comprising the steps of formatting messages according to STANAG 4691 and transmitting the formatted messages according to a TVWS is also disclosed. |
