Provided are an apparatus for encoding and decoding an audio signal and a method thereof which can improve a sound quality of a reconstructed audio signal by reducing errors occurring as an audio signal is encoded and decoded. According to a first embodiment of the present invention, the method for encoding and decoding an audio signal comprises the steps of: detecting a pitch from an audio signal; determining a filter coefficient by considering the detected pitch; performing a second filtering for the audio signal based on the determined filter coefficient; and decoding the second filtered audio signal.
