In the present invention, there is described a method of processing asbestos, wherein asbestos or asbestos-containing product is mixed with a geopolymeric dispersion such that the particles thereof are encased by a geopolymeric precursor forming a geopolymeric matrix, i.e. alumosilicates that are capable of hydrolysis in an alkali aqueous solution followed by resolidification to a water insoluble solid substance, whereby the precursor is molecularly connected with the surface of the asbestos fibers, optionally the asbestos fibers with the thickness of some micrometers or less dissolve therein.
