Distribution of audiovisual content for display devices

The present invention provides a method and device for optimizing a distribution of audiovisual content for display devices of different types, such as multi-view autostereoscopic 3D displays, single view 3D displays, and 2D displays. A peer-to-peer network is used for smart distribution of so-called monoscopic views of content, so that each of the heterogeneous set of display devices can be quickly served with the content views that it needs.
