Process for preparing strontium-samarium cement and use thereof

In the present invention, there is described a process for preparing strontium-samarium cement by dry mixing strontium carbonate or strontium oxide with samarium oxide wherein the saturation degree of the cement with strontium is in the range of 80 to 100 percent, and making a homogeneous mixture therefrom by milling and agitating. Subsequently, the resulting mixture is fired at a temperature higher than 1600 degC. The strontium-samarium cement according to the present invention can be mixed with water, aggregates, optionally with other cements and binding agents and use for structural and engineering applications under current and elevated temperatures or for refractory applications.
