A refrigerating apparatus includes a high-temperature side circuit "a" and a low-temperature side circuit "b" connected to each other via a cascade condenser 8, a low-temperature side second flow control valve 14 that turns a refrigerant, passing through a liquid pipe 15 connecting between a cooling unit 13 and other circuit parts in a low-temperature side circuit b, into a gas-liquid two-phase refrigerant, and an expansion tank 18 connected to the suction side of a low-temperature circuit compressor 5 via a tank electromagnetic valve 17.
