<p>The invention relates to a process and to an apparatus for production of biogas from fermentation substrate, in at least one fermenter. The object is to enable increased formation of methane during the fermentation. For this purpose, the solution proposed is to expel a defined portion of fermentation substrate during the residence time of the fermentation substrate in the fermenter and to pump it through a first heat exchanger W1 in a closed circuit to heat it to temperatures of up to 110°C. Subsequently, the fermentation substrate is supplied to a second heat exchanger W2 and heated further therein up to a maximum of 180°C. As a result of the pumping operation, the fermentation substrate separated out is compressed to a pressure of 1.5 to 10 bar and pumped into a closed vessel B1. The pressure is released or maintained therein, with release of CO2, ammonia, traces of H2S and water vapor from the fermentation substrate, these being removed as a gas mixture. Reduced-ammonia fermentation substrate is removed from vessel B1 and sent back to the fermentation substrate present in the fermenter.</p> |
