According to an embodiment of the present invention, a display apparatus comprises: a display; a processor displaying image data of image contents on the display as an image; a user interface sensing reaction of a user; and a controller deciding preference of the user to the image contents based on reaction of the user to the image sensed through the user interface while the image of the image contents is displayed. The controller calculates preference by calculation of the generation accumulated value of each reaction and the weighted value set by corresponding to the reaction according to types while the image is displayed. The weighted value corresponding to one reaction is set as a different value corresponding to genre of image contents.
