<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately distinguish hunting phenomenon and a reversed state, and also precisely and quickly detect an occurrence of the hunting phenomenon. <P>SOLUTION: A drive controller 1 comprises: an inverter circuit 2; a pre-drive circuit 3; a control circuit section 4; and a rotational position detector 5. The control circuit section 4 includes a hunting detection part 6. The hunting detection part 6 detects whether hunting phenomenon has occurred or not in a brushless motor 10 on the basis of a plurality of pulse signals which are outputted from the rotational position detector 5, and are configured to change a pulse stream on a unit time basis. The hunting detection part 6 detects a change in a rotation direction of a rotor and a number of changes in the rotation direction of the rotor on a unit time basis on the basis of the latest pulse stream and the previous pulse stream.
