The present invention relates to a positive electrode including an overlithiated oxide (OLO), and to a lithium secondary battery comprising the same. The lithium metal composite oxide is a positive electrode active material having each peak on both sides around 21° in a range that 2&thgr; value is 20-22° in an X-ray diffraction (XRD) pattern using CuKα ray. According to the present invention, the positive electrode active material can manufacture a lithium secondary battery having high capacity of more than or equal to 220 mAh/g.
