Systems and methods are provided for applying directed energy to an object. The system includes a first transmitter comprising a light source configured to emit a first light beam at a first frequency towards a focal point and a second transmitter comprising a light source configured to emit a second light beam at a second frequency towards the focal point. The first and second light beams cause a third light beam to be generated that has a third frequency that is coincident with at least one resonant frequency of the object.

1. A system for applying directed energy to an object, said system comprising:
a first transmitter comprising a light source configured to emit a first light beam at a first frequency towards a focal point; and a second transmitter comprising a light source configured to emit a second light beam at a second frequency towards the focal point, the second transmitter configured to scan a range of frequencies using the second light beam, the second light beam emitted to cause a third light beam to be generated that has a third frequency that is coincident with at least one resonant frequency of the object, wherein at least one of the first transmitter and the second transmitter is configured to determine the at least one resonant frequency of the object.
