A method of rapid-actingly increasing blood arginine level in a subject in need of a rapid-acting increase in blood arginine level comprising administering (a) citrulline or a salt thereof and (b) arginine or a salt thereof at 200 mg-3 g as the total amount of citrulline or a salt thereof and arginine or a salt thereof at one time so as to increase the blood arginine level of the subject within 1 hour after the administration of citrulline or a salt thereof and arginine or a salt thereof.
