Channel quality information feedback techniques for a wireless system are described. An apparatus may comprise a base station having base station logic to determine a channel quality indicator feedback dimension value representing a number of resource blocks for an orthogonal frequency division multiple access system to be measured by a subscriber station based on a matching ratio value, and a transceiver to send the channel quality indicator feedback dimension value to the subscriber station. circuitry to determine a channel quality indicator (CQI) feedback dimension value for an orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) system, the CQI feedback dimension value to represent a number of resource blocks a subscriber station is to measure in order to provide CQI feedback information of a given level of CQI feedback granularity, the CQI feedback dimension value determined based on a probability of resource block assignment to subscriber stations in the OFDMA system, the circuitry to cause transmission of the CQI feedback dimension value, and receive a CQI feedback value representing channel quality measurements measured in accordance with the CQI feedback dimension value. |
