Systems and methods for data transmission include categorizing users into one of a plurality of profiles using a processor based on device and channel characteristics. Each of the plurality of profiles is mapped to one of a plurality of transmission schemes. Data is combined for a plurality of users categorized with different profiles for data transmission.

1. A method for data transmission, comprising:
categorizing users into one of a plurality of profiles using a processor based on device and channel characteristics; mapping each of the plurality of profiles to one of a plurality of transmission schemes; and combining data for a plurality of users categorized with different profiles for data Transmission, wherein the plurality of transmission schemes include a diversity transmission scheme, a multiplexing transmission scheme, and a reuse transmission scheme, and wherein categorizing includes: determining whether a user is a diversity transmission scheme user based on the device and channel characteristics; if the user is not a diversity transmission scheme user, categorizing the user as a multiplexing transmission scheme user; and comparing estimated and measured multiplexing rates such that if the comparing is greater than a threshold, the user is categorized as a reuse transmission scheme user.
