1. A method comprising:
capturing an image by
reading a plurality of analog signals from an array of light sensitive elements;performing logarithmic analog-to-digital conversion on the plurality of analog signals which creates a corresponding plurality of digital values, each corresponding to a digital luminance value; and storing representations of the plurality of digital values to a storage medium; prior to the capturing the image:
adjusting brightness by changing offset applied to the analog signals prior to analog-to-digital conversion; andadjusting contrast by changing gain applied to the analog signal prior to analog-to-digital conversion,wherein prior to adjusting brightness and adjusting contrast, the method further comprises capturing an image to create an initial image; and
calculating a dynamic range regarding the initial image, thecalculating performed by a processor executing a program; andwherein adjusting the brightness further comprises adjusting the brightness based on the dynamic range, the adjusting the brightness performed by the processor without user input; andwherein adjusting the contrast further comprises adjusting the contrast based on the dynamic range, the adjusting the contrast performed by the processor without user input. |
