1. A cathode for an electrochemical cell comprising:
a first particulate material having particles comprising a mixture of at least one alkali metal halide and at least one metal selected from the group consisting of iron, nickel, cobalt, chromium, manganese and mixtures thereof, wherein the at least one alkali metal halide first particulate material comprises sodium chloride; a second particulate material consisting of sodium chloride, and an electrolyte dispersed about the first and second particulate materials, wherein the electrolyte is a salt electrolyte that is molten at an operating temperature of the electrochemical cell; and wherein a mean particle size ratio of the first particulate material to the second particulate material varies from 500:1 to 10:1. |
