1. A method for electrochemical or chemical deposition of a metal or an alloy on a transparent conductive oxide (TCO) surface, comprising:
a) electrochemically reducing an upper layer of the TCO surface with a first electrolyte consisting of at least one halide salt in water, at least one halide salt in a polar organic solvent, or a combination thereof, to yield a reduced upper TCO layer, wherein the TCO is selected from the group consisting of indium oxide doped by tin (ITO) and fluorine-doped tin oxide (FTO); and b) electrochemically or electrolessly depositing said metal or alloy on the reduced upper layer of the TCO surface with a second electrolyte comprising at least one metal compound if depositing said metal, or comprising at least two metal compounds if depositing said alloy. |
