1. A method for controlling a transmission of a transit vehicle, the method comprising the steps of:
receiving, by a Vehicle Logic Unit (VLU), a first input from an operator of the transit vehicle, upon start-up of the transit vehicle and the VLU; determining, by the VLU, whether a number of digits in the first input is valid for identification information of the operator; receiving, by the VLU, a second input from the operator, when the number of digits in the first input is valid; determining, by the VLU, whether the second input matches one of a plurality of Personal Identification Numbers (PINs); authenticating, by a Vehicle Logic Unit (VLU), the operator of the transit vehicle, when the second input matches one of the plurality of PINs; and transmitting, from the VLU, a signal enabling operator control of the transmission of the transit vehicle, when the operator of the vehicle is authenticated. |
