1. A method of controlling a test site environment, comprising:
providing a test site on a substrate with a capture molecule bonded to the substrate and effective for selectively binding with a target molecule under preselected local chemical environmental conditions; providing a first hydrogel composition including a first chemical factor at the test site; providing an actuator configured to activate the first hydrogel composition to release the first chemical factor at the test site; controlling the actuator a first time to activate the first hydrogel composition so as to release the first chemical factor at the test site based upon the preselected local chemical environmental conditions; modifying a local chemical environment a first time at the test site with the released first chemical factor; sensing the local chemical environment after modifying the local chemical environment the first time; and controlling the actuator a second time in response to the sensing of the local chemical environment after modifying the local chemical environment the first time based upon the preselected local chemical environmental conditions. |
