<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the reduction in the drivability in the deceleration process of an internal combustion engine or a vehicle.SOLUTION: There is controlled an internal combustion engine equipped with a variable valve timing mechanism capable of variably adjusting the opening timing of an intake valve and the closing timing of an exhaust valve. When the internal combustion engine is decelerated, there is performed a transient control, in which the closing timing of the exhaust valve is delayed to the maximum or the vicinity of the maximum, and in which the opening timing of the intake valve is advanced more than the timing delayed to the maximum.</p> |
