PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging device that attains an image plane focus AF, and enables improvement in AF accuracy by increasing the number of sampling times of focus detection pixels per unit time. ! SOLUTION: An imaging device comprises: an imaging optical system that includes a focus lens; imaging means that includes a two-dimensional pixel array containing a first pixel photoelectrically converting a subject image formed by the imaging optical system to generate a first pixel signal for generating a photograph image, and a second pixel photoelectrically converting a subject image from a partial area different in a pupil area of the imaging optical system to generate a second pixel signal; reading means for reading the first pixel signal generated by the first pixel and the second pixel signal generated by the second pixel at a mutually different read rate; and output means for, depending upon whether the pixel signal read by the reading means is the first pixel signal or second pixel sign |
