PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a DC/DC converter incorporating a protection circuit which consumes no wasteful power. ! SOLUTION: A DC/DC converter comprises: a DC/DC converter circuit 7 which steps up or steps down a DC voltage input to an input terminal to output the DC voltage from an output terminal, according to a signal from the outside; and an abnormality detection circuit 5 for detecting abnormality of the DC/DC converter circuit 7. The DC/DC converter comprises: means (8) for determining whether or not the DC/DC converter circuit 7 is acting; and means 6, (8) for switching off a power supply for the abnormality detection circuit 5 when the determination means (8) determines that the circuit is not acting. !
