PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To take a measure to prevent display unevenness around screen corners in an IPS (In Plane Switching) type liquid crystal display device. ! SOLUTION: A liquid crystal layer 300 is held between a TFT substrate 100 having dummy pixels 20 formed outside a display area 1000 having pixels 10 formed in a matrix and an opposing substrate 200 having color filters 201 formed in the display area 1000 and having a black matrix 202 formed outside the display area 1000. A voltage applied to the dummy pixel 20 adjacent to the pixel 10 of an outermost display area is configured to be the same voltage as a voltage applied to the pixel of the outermost display area.
