PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an engine control device capable of increasing a frequency of automatic stop of an engine due to idling stop control.SOLUTION: An ECU 30 includes that a state of charge of a battery is equal to or more than a prescribed value in an automatic stop condition, and automatically stops an engine when the automatic stop condition is satisfied, and restarts the engine when a restart condition is satisfied. The ECU 30 determines a state of charge of the battery based on the fact that the battery reaches a prescribed charging level under the situation that the battery is charged by an alternator after starting of a vehicle, and the state of charge is successively updated in accordance with a charge/discharge state of the battery after determination of the state of charge. Before determining the state of charge after starting the vehicle, the ECU 30 determines whether or not the automatic stop condition is satisfied based on the state of charge of the battery calculated at the last stop of the vehicle when the time left standing after the last stop of the vehicle is within a prescribed determination value. |
