PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an inorganic composite powder suppressed in luster and to provide an inorganic composite powder. ! SOLUTION: There are provided: [1] a method for producing an inorganic composite powder by growing silica on an inorganic powder which comprises the following steps 1 and 2; and [2] an inorganic composite powder obtained by the production method. Step 1: a step of mixing a cationic surfactant, one or more inorganic powders selected from the group consisting of talc, mica and barium sulfate, a hydrophilic organic solvent and water to produce an aqueous dispersion of the inorganic powder; and Step 2: a step of adding a silica source to the aqueous dispersion obtained in the step 1 to grow silica under the conditions that the mass ratio of the silica source (in terms of SiO2)/the inorganic powder is 0.1 or more and 10 or less. !
