PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve ignitability of an ignition device for supplying discharge energy in a superimposed manner from an auxiliary power supply to spark discharge started by applying a high voltage from an ignition coil to an ignition plug. ! SOLUTION: In an ignition device 6, an auxiliary power supply 5 includes a discharge switch 51, a discharge switch drive control circuit 52, a rectifying element 53 and primary current detection means 54. The discharge switch drive control circuit 52 includes: discharge period signal generation means 521 for generating a discharge period signal IGw; primary current determination means 522 for performing threshold determination of primary current I1; and a logical product circuit 520 for calculating a logical product of a feedback signal SFB which shows the determination result of the primary current determination means in binary values and a discharge period signal IGt.
