PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a drive unit, optical unit, imaging device and endoscope that are so downsized and light-weighted to perform an advancing/retracting drive of a movable part using a voice coil motor.SOLUTION: A drive unit 1 comprises: a cylindrical shape stationary part 2 that centers around a prescribed shaft C; a cylindrical shape movable part 3 that centers around the shaft C arranged inside the stationary part 2; and a voice coil motor 10 that is capable of causing the movable part 3 to move relatively to the stationary part 2 in a shaft C direction by a coil 11 arranged in the stationary part 2 and a magnet 12 arranged in the movable part 3. In a state where the magnet 12 is installed in the movable part 3, a first distance L1 from the shaft C to an outer surface 121 in a radial direction of the magnet 12 is configured to be longer than a second length L2 from the shaft C to an inner circumferential surface 23 of the stationary part 2.
