PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projector capable of suppressing reduction in display quality due to a brightness variation or the like.SOLUTION: A projector 10 of the present invention includes: a lighting device 50 including a lamp 52; a liquid crystal panel 32 modulating light emitted from the lighting device 50 in response to a video signal; a projection optical system 58 projecting an image formed by the light modulated by the liquid crystal panel 32 onto a screen SC; a lamp drive unit 54 supplying AC power having a frequency changing over time to the lamp 52; an illuminance sensor 34 measuring a screen illuminance for every drive frequency; and a control unit 40 correcting brightness of the image for every drive frequency of drive power supplied to the lamp 52 on the basis of a measuring result of the illuminance sensor 34.
