PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten the time to letting a source device acquire correct capability information, even if a connection fault occurs between the source device and a sink device. ! SOLUTION: A transmitter includes: acquisition means for acquiring capability information of a receiver through a transmission line; transmission means for transmitting data, generated using the information acquired from the receiver by the acquisition means, to the receiver; error detection means for processing of detecting error on the transmission line; and control means for controlling acquisition of the information according to the error if the error is detected while the information is being acquired by the acquisition means. !
