PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress power consumption of a circuit of a reserve system during a period in which an optical transmission line of an active system is used.SOLUTION: An optical transmission device includes: a plurality of transmitters outputting first and second optical signals resulting from branching an optical signal including transmission data; a plurality of first and second optical adjusters for adjusting strengths of the first and second optical signals; a first multiplexer for multiplexing optical signals output from the first optical adjusters as a first optical multiplex signal; a second multiplexer for multiplexing optical signals output from the second optical adjusters as a second optical multiplex signal; a first optical amplifier for amplifying the first optical multiplex signal and outputting the amplified multiplex signal to a first transmission line; a second optical amplifier for amplifying the second optical multiplex signal and outputting the amplified multiplex signal to a second transmission line; and a control part in which, when transmitting the first optical multiplex signal via the first transmission line, any of the second optical adjusters is set to a transmissive state, the remaining second optical adjusters are set to a cut-off state, and the second optical amplifier is set to have an amplification capability corresponding to the number of second optical adjusters in the transmissive state.
