PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface light source device and a transmission type display device capable of improving utilization efficiency of light emitted from a light source without generating warp and distortion of a light guide plate.SOLUTION: A surface light source device 10 includes: a light guide plate 13 having a light incident surface 13a where light enters, a light emission surface 13c which crosses the light incident surface 13a and where light emits, a back surface 13d which opposes the light emission surface 13c and an opposing surface 13b which opposes the light incident surface 13a, and emitting light entered from the light incident surface 13a from the light emission surface 13c while guiding it to a light guide direction heading toward an opposing surface 13b side from the light incident surface 13a; a light source part 12 provided at a position facing the light incident surface 13a of the light guide plate 13, and projecting light to the light incident surface 13a; and an adhesive member G provided at least at the light incident surface 13a of the light guide plate 13 and connecting the light guide plate 13 and the light source part 12. |
