PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reading apparatus capable of suppressing generation of color shift in a sub-scanning direction on generated color image data when reading an image with comparatively low resolution. ! SOLUTION: The image reading apparatus includes: a light source 24 for radiating light to a document 6; a filter 34 including a red filter part 38r, a green filter part 38g and a blue filter part 38b which are aligned in a main scanning direction and transmit light reflected on the document 6; a line image sensor 28 which when reading an image 6a while moving with respect to the document 6 in a sub-scanning direction approximately orthogonal to the main scanning direction, acquires red, green and blue image data by receiving the light having passed through the filter 34 respectively by a plurality of light receiving elements 30; and a control part 32 for generating color image data on the basis of the red, green and blue image data acquired by the line image sensor 28. !
