PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pleat filter that prevents a rupture due to use and contributes to a stable use for a long time and a ballast water treatment apparatus using the same.SOLUTION: A pleat filter, which has folds so that a filter base material may repeat crests and troughs and has a cylindrical shape the axial direction of which is the ridge line direction of the fold, comprises a reinforcement plate in a crest as viewed from inside the cylindrical shape, the reinforcement plate being constituted of a first reinforcement plate located on the rear side of the fold that forms the outer peripheral side salient of the cylindrical shape and a second reinforcement plate located on the gap between adjacent folds that form the inner peripheral side salient of the cylindrical shape with the first reinforcement plate and the second reinforcement plate arranged with a distance in a pleat depth direction of the pleat filter.
