PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve improvement of failure resistance by improving the ability to detect an internal failure in a chassis type switch device (relay device).SOLUTION: A line card LC[1] monitors communicability between the line card and each of fabric cards FC[1] to FC[3]. When the communicability with the FC[2] is abnormal, for example, the line card detects the abnormality and performs setting for performing switching so that a frame to be transmitted to the FC[2] is directed to the FC[3] or the like due to the abnormality, within a first period. A communicability test unit 20b creates a test frame every second period, transmits the test frame to a fabric card selected by a path selection unit 23, and receives the test frame looped back at the fabric card, where the second period is longer than the first period. The communicability test unit 20b diagnoses the presence/absence of a failure, on the basis of reception results with regard to first and second test frames (36a, 36b). |
