PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a combined angular and axial position sensor arrangement that requires a minimum of space and computational power.SOLUTION: An angular and axial position sensor arrangement 10 comprises a plurality of sensors S1, S2, S3, and S4 arranged adjacently, and aligned parallel to an axis of an encoded member 20 that is angularly and axially displaceable relative to the sensors S1, S2, S3, and S4. The encoded member 20 comprises N-1 axial detection encoded rings 21, 21', and 21" with value A along their entire circumference and comprises an Nth axial detection encoded ring 22 that is axially adjacent with value B, different from the value A, along its entire circumference. The encoded member comprises a plurality of angular detection encoded rings 23, 23', and 23" axially adjacent to the Nth axial detection encoded ring 22. The angular detection encoded rings 23, 23', and 23" comprise a coding pattern composed of the values A and B along their circumference to determine an angular position by causing some sensors to overlap the rings 23, 23', and 23". |
