<p>A primary purpose of the present invention is to provide a method for multiple description coding using a directional discrete cosine transform, wherein a directional discrete cosine transform (DDCT) is applied in compressing image data in a JPEG method, thereby improving efficiency of an interpolation of the multiple expression coding method. A preferred embodiment of the present invention to achieve the aforementioned purpose includes: a sub-sampling step of dividing an original image into a plurality of image descriptions; a step of encoding each of the divided image descriptions by using the directional discrete cosine transform; and a step of transmitting each of the encoded image descriptions through independent channels.</p> |
