Disclosed are a method and a system for searching motion capture data. The method for searching motion capture data comprises the steps of: maintaining a database which stores first motion data acquired in a first motion capture method; receiving a search query including second motion data acquired in a second motion capture method; acquiring re-targeting data produced by converting the first motion data to fit in the second motion capture method; searching at least one first motion data from the database based on the similarity of the re-targeting data and the second motion data; and providing at least one searched first motion data as a search result corresponding to the search query.
