The present invention relates to a system and a method for detecting and preventing an illegal access point (AP), the invention including: an AP information acquisition device which is detachably coupled to a client terminal and which acquires adjacent AP information that is information of adjacent APs around the client terminal; and a server for receiving adjacent AP information and client terminal position information from the AP information acquisition device and for determining whether an adjacent AP is an illegal AP based on the received information.
