The system has a coprocessor (CP) for exchanging data with a programmable processor (P). A cache memory (C) is directly connected to the programmable processor through a communication bus (B) to temporarily store copies of data in the system. The coprocessor is directly connected to the cache memory such that the programmable processor and the coprocessor exchange the data through the cache memory. The cache memory includes an access controller (CA) to control the addressing of the cache memory to activate the coprocessor.
