<p>The present invention relates to an apparatus for diagnosing the fault of a gird connected photovoltaic power generation system and a method thereof. The method for diagnosing the fault of the grid connected photovoltaic power generation system according to the embodiment of the present invention includes the steps of: converting the DC power, AC power, and solar radiation intensity of the photovoltaic power generation system into equivalent driving time and calculating the equivalent driving time; calculating the measurement value of the photovoltaic power generation system; predicting the equivalent driving time of the photovoltaic power generation system; calculating the measurement value of the loss of the photovoltaic power generation system; calculating the prediction value of the loss of the photovoltaic power generation system; calculating a difference value between the measurement value of the loss of the photovoltaic power generation system and the prediction value of the loss of the photovoltaic power generation system; and outputting a fault mode corresponding to the fault state. Therefore, the present invention minimizes an energy loss due to the fault of the photovoltaic power generation system.</p>
