[Problem] The objective of the present invention is to provide a mold for a glass optical element blank for polishing which has excellent moldability and is capable of improving yield. [Solution] A mold according to the present invention is a mold which has at least an upper die and a lower die and is used to produce a glass optical element blank for polishing, wherein a molding surface of at least one of the upper die and the lower die has a surface roughness (Rz) of over 10 μm.
