The invention relates to a production method for a tool holder comprising the following steps: A hollow spindle (main body) is formed. At least one elongated recess is provided in the wall. The spindle is composed of a first material, which comprises unalloyed or low-alloy steels. An insert is formed from a second material, a high-alloy tool steel. The insert has a base, which is complementary to the recess, and a ridge. The insert is inserted into the hollow spindle in such a way that the base lies in the recess and the ridge protrudes into an interior of the spindle. The base is soldered into the recess at a temperature lying above the Ac3 temperatures of the steels used. The combination of the hollow spindle and the insert is cooled down. A heat treatment of the combination is performed in an atmosphere containing carbon, the carbon content of which is adequate for carburizing the hollow spindle and not adequate for carburizing the insert. The heat treatment of the combination occurs at a temperature between 800 Celsius and 950 Celsius. The combination is cooled down in a salt bath or liquid bath after the heat treatment. |
