The present invention relates to a method and an apparatus for manufacturing a glass substrate for a display, wherein in manufacturing processes of an electronic device, attachment of an etchant to one side of a glass substrate, on which a thin film is to be formed, is inhibited and, furthermore, an etchant is efficiently used. Multiple roughening rollers are disposed in a transporting direction of the glass substrate, some of the roughening rollers are impregnated with an etchant, and the etchant absorbed by the roughening rollers is attached to a first side, or the other side of the glass substrate to roughen the first side while the glass substrate is transported by the driving of the roughening rollers. The amount of an etchant retained in the roughening rollers is adjusted to inhibit the attachment of an etchant to a second side, or one side of a glass substrate. The amount of an etchant retained in the roughening rollers is adjusted to prevent the etchant absorbed by the roughening rollers from being retained in the roughening rollers after the first side is roughened. |
