PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a medical device material including tetragonal zirconia with excellent mechanical properties, having a calcium phosphate film with high biocompatibility which is strongly adhered to an intended specific region; and a manufacturing method thereof.SOLUTION: The manufacturing method of a medical device material containing tetragonal zirconia with a coating of calcium phosphate at a specific region includes: a first step of irradiating the specific region with an ultra short pulse laser beam to form irregularities on the surface; and a second step of depositing calcium phosphate fine particles smaller than the cycle of the irregularities on the specific region. The method may further include a third step of contacting the tetragonal zirconia-containing medical device material with a supersaturated calcium phosphate solution after the second step.
