According to an embodiment, a fingerprint information processing method of an electronic device including a minimum fingerprint sensing area comprises; a step of obtaining a fingerprint image in a fingerprint sensing area; a step of calculating a concentration change value which is defined as a concentration difference value with surrounding pixels for each pixel of the fingerprint image; a step of selecting points in which the concentration change value is more than or equal to a threshold value as a characteristic point candidate; a step of adding artificial distortion for the noise filtering to an area including the characteristic point candidate and the surrounding pixels; and a step of selecting candidates in which the concentration change value after the artificial distortion belongs to a threshold range among the characteristic point candidates as a final characteristic point. According to the present invention, accurate fingerprint registration and certification can be possible with the fingerprint sensing of a tiny area.
