The present invention relates to a method and an apparatus for automatically setting a language in an input tool based on language information detected from an object in an electronic device. The method for providing an input tool in an electronic device according to an embodiment of the present invention comprises the steps of: executing an application; recognizing an object in the application; detecting information on at least one language from the object; setting a language in the text input tool based on the detected language information; and displaying the language-set text input tool. The present invention can have various different embodiments based on the above-described embodiment.
