The invention relates to a transmission shaft (1) of a manual transmission having a countershaft design, which transmission shaft forms one of at least two largely identical countershafts and is constructed of a plurality of hollow shaft segments (2; 3; 4; 5) pressure-welded to each other in a butt-jointed manner, of which hollow shaft segments at least two hollow shaft segments (2; 3; 4; 5) are each provided with at least one set of helical teeth (6; 7; 8; 9; 10) of a fixed gear of a helical-gear stage.
